Captain James Berry (UK) thanked His Excellency and all present for extending hospitality to Logos Hope’s crew. He said, “I want to thank you for the warm welcome and for receiving us here so generously. Many ships pass through here, but few get to stop and enjoy all that Port Said has to offer. Logos Hope’s crew are excited for this opportunity. We can also sense the excitement in Port Said for our visit. I hope many people will come on board and meet our very special crew to connect with the many countries that they represent.”
Mr. Al-Ghadhban welcomed Logos Hope to Port Said. He said, “It is my honour to be with you all today. I want to welcome the crew from Logos Hope. On behalf of the people of Port Said, we are proud to celebrate the official opening of Logos Hope to the public. Egypt is a great country. We have a beautiful mix of people here, Egyptian, pharaonic, Asian and Arabian. Thanks to Logos Hope for providing us with the opportunity to share the greatness of the Egyptian people.”
His Excellency Amr Osman, Vice-Governor of Port Said added, “Our culture goes back 7,000 years and has included pharaohs, Greeks and a lot of other cultures from around the world. I hope you get to know the different cultures all over Egypt. Ships from all around the world pass through this port, but Logos Hope is staying here to enjoy the city of Port Said. The local people are happy to have people visiting from many nationalities. We hope you will have a warm and welcoming experience here.”
Following the official opening ceremony, Captain James Berry, Managing Director Edward David (Malaysia) and crewmembers were invited to a celebration featuring local Egyptian dancers. Logos Hope crewmembers contributed to the event with their own performance and were then asked to participate in a final dance together with the local performers.
With many opportunities to connect with local people still to come, Logos Hope looks forward to a fruitful partnership in Port Said, Egypt.
